Vedik Kaaya
Haridwar
Traditional Ayurvedic Care under the Guidance of an Experienced Doctor
Vedik Kaaya is an Ayurvedic centre that has been operating in Haridwar since 2003. It is headed by Dr Poonam Gambhir, an experienced Ayurvedic doctor specialising in Panchakarma, yoga and natural beauty care.
The centre combines traditional Ayurvedic practices with many years of clinical experience and offers individually designed therapeutic, cleansing and rejuvenation stays.
Individual Treatment Programme
Every stay begins with a consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor and an assessment of the guest’s constitution and current state of health. Based on the findings, an individual programme of treatments, diet and daily routine—and, where appropriate, yoga therapy—is prepared.
Treatments are performed by trained therapists under medical supervision. Their combination may be adjusted during the stay according to the guest’s current needs.
Ayurvedic treatments
Vedik Kaaya offers a wide range of classical and specialised Ayurvedic therapies. These include:
Abhyanga – a full-body oil massage,
Shirodhara – a continuous stream of oil poured onto the forehead,
Swedana – herbal steam therapy,
Udvartana – massage using herbal powders,
Nasya – the nasal administration of herbal preparations,
Pizhichil – a full-body oil therapy,
Navarakizhi and Elakizhi – treatments using rice and herbal boluses,
Shirobasti – oil therapy focused on the head,
Kati Basti and Janu Basti – localised care for the back and knees,
Netra Tarpana – traditional Ayurvedic eye care,
Dhanyamla Dhara and other therapies using herbal liquids.
The specific treatments are selected by the doctor according to the guest’s state of health and the focus of their programme.
Panchakarma
One of the centre’s principal areas of specialisation is Panchakarma—a traditional Ayurvedic cleansing process whose precise form is determined individually. The programme may include preparatory treatments, the main cleansing phase, subsequent rejuvenation and a gradual return to the usual daily routine.
The suitability and extent of Panchakarma, as well as the required length of stay, are always determined by the Ayurvedic doctor.
Therapeutic and Rejuvenation Programmes
Vedik Kaaya prepares programmes for different needs and age groups, focusing on:
Panchakarma and overall cleansing,
rejuvenation and revitalisation,
stress management,
care for the spine, joints and musculoskeletal system,
support for healthy weight reduction,
care for older guests,
programmes for children,
traditional Ayurvedic beauty care.
Each programme provides a general framework that the doctor further adapts to the individual guest.

The centre also offers individually tailored yoga therapy. Depending on the guest’s needs, this may include appropriately selected asanas, breathing exercises, cleansing techniques, mudras, bandhas or mantras.
Vedik Kaaya is also involved in yoga education and offers an accredited 200-hour yoga teacher training course. The connection between Ayurvedic care and professional yoga education is one of the centre’s distinctive features.
-
Vedik Kaaya is a small, enclosed complex with five double bungalows. Its maximum accommodation capacity is therefore ten guests, allowing the centre to maintain an intimate atmosphere and a highly personal approach.
The grounds include two inner gardens, a separate small building where Dr Poonam Gambhir conducts consultations and examinations, a building dedicated to Ayurvedic treatments, and a hall for yoga practice.
-
Guests may stay directly on the premises and undertake a complete residential programme including consultations, treatments, meals and a recommended daily routine.
Vedik Kaaya also operates as a day clinic. Clients staying elsewhere in Haridwar may visit the centre solely for medical consultations and individual treatments.
-
The centre is situated in the Ajitpur area on the outskirts of Haridwar, away from the bustle of the city centre. Haridwar lies on the banks of the Ganges and is one of India’s most important pilgrimage destinations. Depending on their programme, guests may complement their stay by exploring the city’s spiritual and cultural traditions.
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. The centre is also easily accessible from Rishikesh and central Haridwar.
