Ayurveda Directly by the Beach in Kovalam
Soma Palmshore is a seaside resort belonging to the Somatheeram Ayurveda Group, combining Ayurvedic treatments, daily yoga and a stay directly by the Arabian Sea. It is located at Light House Beach in Kovalam, approximately 14 km from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.
Soma Palmshore differs in character from its sister centres Somatheeram, Manaltheeram and AyurSoma. While these are primarily designed as specialised Ayurvedic retreats, Palmshore retains more of the atmosphere of a traditional seaside hotel with a fully equipped Ayurvedic treatment centre. It is therefore an attractive choice for guests who want to experience an Ayurvedic stay while having the sea, beach and relaxed resort environment literally at their doorstep.
Location and Surroundings
The resort is built on a hillside directly above the coast. Its tropical garden filled with coconut palms gradually descends towards a small beach with direct access from the property. In the middle section of the grounds there is an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the sea, surrounded by sun loungers and relaxation areas.
The location is one of Soma Palmshore’s greatest advantages. The sea is present throughout much of the resort, and the rooms have their own balconies or terraces facing towards the sea and beach.
Unlike the spacious, village-like layout of Manaltheeram, Palmshore is a more compact property. Most accommodation is situated in a multi-storey hotel building, complemented by several individual cottages set among tropical greenery. The overall atmosphere is therefore that of a compact tropical beach resort.

All categories are air-conditioned and have private bathrooms. The rooms are simply and practically furnished, with wooden furniture and elements inspired by traditional Kerala style. This is not luxury accommodation comparable to AyurSoma; its main strengths are instead the location, sea views and pleasant resort environment.
The individual cottages offer a similar standard of accommodation while providing a greater sense of privacy and closer contact with the surrounding garden. The current price list distinguishes three accommodation categories: Sea Facing A/C Cottage, Sea Facing A/C Deluxe and Sea Facing A/C Standard.

Although Soma Palmshore may initially feel more like a beach resort, Ayurveda is not merely an additional wellness service here. The centre belongs to the Somatheeram Ayurveda Group and provides authentic Ayurvedic treatments under the supervision of qualified doctors and experienced therapists trained within the group. Each treatment programme is individually designed following an initial consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor.
The Ayurvedic centre includes dedicated treatment rooms equipped with traditional wooden treatment tables and facilities for classical Kerala therapies. Depending on the selected programme and the doctor’s recommendations, treatments may include oil massages, herbal and heat therapies, Shirodhara and other traditional Ayurvedic procedures.
The current range of programmes includes primarily Rejuvenation / Body Purification Therapy, Panchakarma & Rasayana, Stress Management and Slimming Programme, with different lengths of stay available depending on the selected treatment.

The restaurant is located in the main hotel building and serves both regular Indian and international cuisine as well as Ayurvedic meals for guests undergoing treatment programmes. Special dietary menus are prepared according to the prescribed treatment regime.
Ayurvedic packages include full board with vegetarian Ayurvedic meals.
An outdoor dining area is also available near the swimming pool. The overall dining experience therefore feels less clinical and more in keeping with the relaxed atmosphere of a seaside resort.
Yoga is a regular part of the stay. On the upper floor of the building there is a spacious covered yoga hall in a simple traditional style, where daily yoga and meditation sessions are conducted by Indian teachers. Daily yoga and meditation are also included in the current Ayurvedic treatment packages.
The combination of Ayurvedic therapies, yoga, a peaceful daily routine and the seaside setting creates an environment suitable not only for traditional cleansing programmes but also for general regeneration and relaxation.
